I can imagine the ancient Egyptians thinking "these baboons are gods! But they run around all crazy! Gods shouldn't run around -- they should sit perched on pedestals, and think lofty thoughts! Let's put them in small cages to calm them and free their minds to think lofty thoughts!" Sigh. How sad that the Egyptians kept their worshiped baboons in small cages like that!
