Now my first boyfriend is agreeing with my husband! No, just kidding, guys, I like my seal drawing, too. I’m not as sure about the lighting and sculpting, but I like the velvety texture of the fur.

I think you’ve reached a new milestone with this drawing, Jennifer. Your lighting has always been great — the play of colors upon surfaces and all — but this one seems to stand apart from the others in the wonderful white glow on the seal’s left edge. It really evokes the silky smooth, moist texture of the seal, and the light playing on the folds of the neck seem to sculpt out the three-dimensional contours of the animal.

An amazing piece.
